Staff is requesting Board of Trustees’ approval for a contract amendment for early procurement of equipment for the Junction Ave. K-8 School Fire Alarm Upgrade, HVAC Replacement (Bldgs. C & D1) and Site Electrical Upgrades Project (Project).

Background:
|
On December 14, 2021, our Board approved the initial contract with Blach Construction for pre-construction services for the Project. The materials required to construct the Project, current market conditions, and supply chain challenges require early procurement of certain materials and equipment components for the Project to avoid cost escalations and delay(s).
The total cost of early procurement of certain materials and equipment will be deducted from the Guaranteed Project cost paid to the contractor.

Status

Staff has collaborated with Blach Construction for the early purchase of equipment and materials to mitigate increased costs and delays in the Project. A contract amendment is attached to this item.

Fiscal Impact
:
|
The recommended contract amendment for the early procurement of materials is three hundred nine thousand six hundred sixty-nine dollars ($309,669.00). This is a Measure J funded project.

The Superintendent's recommendation is that our Board of Trustees approve the Contract Amendment for Early Procurement of Equipment for the Junction Avenue K-8 School Fire Alarm Upgrade, HVAC Replacement (Bldgs. C & D1) and Site Electrical Upgrade Project.
