Approval of Assignment Under Ed Code 44831: Authorization for Assignment out of Credentialed Area.

Background:
|
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing, in accordance with California Education Code 44831, allows a governing board of a school district to contract or employ an individual to provide speech and language services if the District has verified all of the following:
• Master’s degree in communicative disorders;
• Valid license from the Speech-Language Pathology and
Audiology Board;
• Passage of the California Basic Educational Skills Test
(CBEST); and
• The criminal record summary according to EC 44332.6
Our District was fortunate to recruit such an individual. In order to retain their certificated services for the 2022/2023 school year, this Authorization For Assignment Out of Credentialed Area will be presented to the Board annually. Authorizing the hire of a candidate who falls under this provision reduces the need to contract with outside agencies, ensures consistency within staff, and adheres to District policies and procedures.
