Quick Summary / Abstract: Staff will present an informational report on East Avenue Middle School.
Background: This School Report is part of an ongoing informational series meant to inform the public and the Board of Education about the following school topics: school demographics; achievements; academic, behavioral, and social data; and prioritized goals and actions for the year. Each Middle School will report data on the following topics: school demographics, California Assessment for Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) English Language Arts (ELA) and Math scores, percent of passing grades, students reporting positive connections, English Learner student progression, reclassification, percent of students suspended, and chronic office referrals.
Status East Avenue is an advancing middle school with an enrollment of 586 students. It offers a learning environment that has targeted math support, targeted literacy support groups, and a commitment to further implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The school keeps pushing forward for success with the goals it has in place. Projects for the year include K-12 Articulation between feeder schools, schoolwide Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), solidifying Professional Learning Communities, and a new Wellness Center. East Avenue Middle School was named a 2022-2023 California School to Watch by the California League of Educators, and awarded PBIS Silver recognition.
Fiscal Impact There is no impact to the General Fund.
