Quick Summary / Abstract: Students with the most challenging and intensive needs who are also in Special Education, require programming beyond what a comprehensive campus can provide. To better meet the needs of these students, LVJUSD is recommending to partner with Spectrum Schools, Incorporated to provide two Non-Public School Classrooms on the Arroyo Mocho campus.
Background: In an effort to provide high quality programs for our District’s students with intensive needs, staff is proposing a partnership with Spectrum Schools, Incorporated, to provide program delivery of two classrooms on the Arroyo Mocho Campus. Spectrum Center, Incorporated would be responsible for providing the staffing, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), instruction, interventions, response for significant behavior needs, and academic instruction. Their staff will have the same requirements for credentials, specialized training, and background checks as our employees.
Status Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJSD) completed a bidding process and based on the organizations that submitted proposals, Spectrum Center, Incorporated was determined to be able to provide the most comprehensive programs at the best rate.
Fiscal Impact The service agreement amount is $1,162,480.00 ($501,800.00 per classroom and 4 instructional aides as needed). A cost comparison has been attached which shows the service agreement will result in a substantial savings in comparison to placing students in non-public school programs outside of Livermore.
