Quick Summary / Abstract:
Background: California Education Code Section 17545 authorizes school districts to sell for cash any surplus property belonging to the school district if the property is not required for school purposes. California Education Code Section 17546 (c) states “If the board, by a unanimous vote of those members present, finds that the property is of insufficient value to defray the costs of arranging a sale, the property may be donated to a charitable organization deemed appropriate by the board, or it may be disposed of in the local public dump on order of any employee of the district empowered for that purpose by the board.” In keeping with our District's “Go Green” efforts to protect and conserve the environment, we make every effort to reuse, sell, donate or recycle and only when all options have been exhausted will we dispose of in the local public dump. Resolution No. 016-24/25 authorizes the sale of surplus property and publication two weeks prior to the sale. A summary list of surplus property to be sold is attached.
