Quick Summary / Abstract:
Background: This School Board Report is part of an ongoing informational series meant to inform the public and the Board of Education about the following school topics: school demographics; achievements; academic, behavioral, and social data; and prioritized goals and actions for the year. Each elementary school will report data on the following topics: school demographics, California Assessment for Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) English Language Arts (ELA) and Math scores, attendance rate, students reporting positive connections, English Learner student progression, office referrals, and 1st and 3rd grade reading fluency.
Status Emma C. Smith Elementary is a thriving elementary school with an enrollment of 678 students. It offers a learning environment that allows each student to grow as an individual. Students are recognized throughout the year in their classrooms and at school-wide assemblies for academic achievement as well as character traits. The school keeps pushing forward for success with the goals it has in place.

Emma C. Smith Elementary has received the Gold Award for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Goals for the 2023-2024 school year include, but are not limited to: continuing PBIS and Kid Connection work, having Universal Access with differentiated teaching and learning instruction, continuing to foster an environment of inclusion where special education students are supported in general education, One School, One Book reading program, and introducing Friendship Ambassadors and Student Valets.
Fiscal Impact There is no impact to the General Fund.
