Quick Summary / Abstract: Resolution No. 121-21/22, Procedure for Resolving Tie Vote for Board Candidates, establishes that a tie vote will be determined by lot and is being presented for approval. There have been no changes in the District's resolution on procedure for resolving a tie vote since 1987.
Background: Education Code Section 5016 provides that, prior to conducting a school board election on and after March 1, 1977, the governing board of each school district shall establish whether a tie vote of two or more candidates for a term of office of governing board members shall be determined by lot or by calling a run-off election.
Status The regular election for Board members in school district will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Fiscal Impact There is no impact to the General Fund.
