Quick Summary / Abstract: Staff will present the A-G Completion Improvement Grant Plan for approval at the March 15, 2022 Board Meeting.

As part of Assembly Bill (AB) 130, the A-G Completion Improvement Grant provides additional supports to local educational agencies to help increase the number of California high school pupils, particularly unduplicated pupils, who graduate from high school with A–G eligibility requirements completed for admission to the California State University and the University of California systems.
Background: The A-G Completion Improvement Grant is a four-year plan that is reported to the California Department of Education in December 2023 and August 2026. LVJUSD received $398,340 to increase the number of students who graduate being A-G eligible.

Our Plan includes actions and expenditures to meet our three District Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and Grant goals for all students and specifically for English Language Learners (ELL), Socio-Economically Disadvantaged (SED), and/or foster youth.

The A-G Completion Improvement Grant Plan was developed after consultation with teachers, principals, administrators, and school personnel.
Status In order to ensure community and stakeholder input, the plan shall be discussed at a regularly scheduled meeting by the governing board of the school district and adopted at a subsequent regularly scheduled meeting. The A-G Completion Improvement Grant was presented at a LVJUSD School Board meeting on March 1, 2022, and staff is seeking approval on March 15, 2022.

Our A-G Completion Improvement Grant Plan includes actions and activities for all students in our District, as well as specific actions primarily designed for students who are EL, SED, and/or foster youth.

52.6% of our graduating class of 2021 were A-G eligible. Our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) lists the specific goal of increasing our percentage of graduates meeting A-G requirements by 5% through 2023-34. We will continue to build on this goal through the expiration of the A-G Completion Improvement grant by increasing an additional 5%.

Programs and services to increase or improve A-G completion
• Section allocation
• Professional development
• College and credit recovery counselor stipend(s) for transcript review for foster youth, low-income students, and English learners

Once the A-G Completion Improvement grant plan is approved by the LVJUSD Board of Education the next steps include submitting it to the California Department of Education by April 1, 2022.
Fiscal Impact The A-G Completion Improvement Grant plan indicates actions and services with an associated anticipated budget for each action item.
